Why I love my job...

I get asked quite often why I do what I do, and praised for something that just makes sense to me. This man answered that question with the words that I have never really been able to find. But for all of those people that have asked me how and why I chose to do what I do this is why... because everyone is human.

Change is good...

Lots of new and exciting things have been happening to me lately. I am really happy I just moved back to Oakville after living in the city for nearly 5years. It was great while it lasted lots of good times but so nce to be back. I was a little hesitant at first but I am loving it. I'm so close to work all my friends and family it's good to be back.


I love my new apartment. I moved in with my younger brother which is great so far. I also scored a dishwasher and in house laundry! Ahhh the small things in life...


Before I left the city I had a childhood friend come and stay with me and it was so nice to see her and reconnect. It's funny how life gets busy when you grow up. It was a really fun few weeks, even thought the apartment was always a mess and we were both stressed about moving. All in all lots of fun and as I moved out of the city she moved in (i left my air mattress there for my over night visits). I am so excited as a thank you for staying with me she bought us both tickets to see Cirque du Soleil's Totem!!!!! It is going to be so  good I have heard nothing but great things. 


I also won a competition for a free makeover and Boudoir Photo shoot which I am excited and equally nervous for. I know the pictures are going to be amazing I'm just not sure how great of a model I am on a good day never mind laying around in my skivy's. Oh well we will soon find out.  All of this happens the week before my birthday which makes it even more exciting to look forward too. I might just go out for my birthday on Saturday night all make overed up! 


I also saw my sister!!! She was here for the whole month of August probably part of why I have been so busy. She came over with her boyfriend Marc and their beautiful dog Cassie. It was so nice to see them nearly every day I definitely forget how much i miss her when she's gone. Maybe now that I am done school once I save up some pennies I can go overseas and visit here. I have been promising for a very long time. 


I was a little disappointed that I could not complete my 4th year placement at the Hamilton  Catholic Children's aid, but I have been talking to the people at Erin Oak Kids. Things are looking promising for a placement there so we will just have to wait and see! Fingers crossed its getting close!

Fall Loves

 So its here I'm pretty sure. I was very excited to spend the last few weeks of summer hanging out by my pool... Not so much. I have resorted to sweaters and pants and even considered socks yesterday.... well I had a little mope and now that its over I remembered what I love about fall!!!! 




                                                    
Starbucks tea lattes! Yummy so warm and cozy any flavour but my present favorite is early gray it's called a London Fog. My friend from England introduced me and I'm hooked and my other friend showed me how to make them at home so good. Note also if anyone knows where to buy these coffee cups please tell me I have been looking for ages and can't find them anywhere. It's double glass so your hot drink is on the inside and the glass on the out side doesn't get hot. They just look so pretty. 


                         


Oh this is a good one! Apple picking I love apples and anything you can make with them. I love a beautiful fall day when its nice and sunny but cool out and going to the farm. I love the country drive the fresh air! I'm excited about this one.

I LOVE fall clothes!!! Not too sure why..... not too much, not too little just enough to be comfortable! No coat needed for a parka (I live in Canada)  just a cute little scarf. I love a pair of tights, sweater, or dress and some boots. Nothing beats it!





  
  


 Like I said I live in Canada so get a lot of this... Amazing! I don't know how it does it but take your breath away. I love a drive in the country side and then a nice long walk in the fresh air. Sometimes I even get lucky and someone takes me to their cottage for a camp fire and drinks.

I did not have to go back to school!!!!! Best thing that ever happened to me! I have so much free time don't know what to do with my self. I am never going to school again unless at some point I end up working at one.. which would not be so bad. Yay no school for me! 

Camping!!!

I forgot to mention that I am going camping with 3 of my Best Friends in the world and I can't wait!!! It is going to be so much fun when I get back I will give you all the details and hopefully some pictures!

So I bought this purse today!

Badgley Michka purse today and I am in LOVE! Most fav thing I have bought in a long time and I got the best deal I saved $300.00! It is so pretty and feminine and will match everything cause its is such a pretty neutral. Best of all it's call Cherise Pearl!

Disaster!

So disaster of all disasters! I thought it would be really cool to get a goolge+ invite so sure enough I tracked one down. When I was looking around on the site I noticed that it synced a lot of my picasa web albums to my account. I figured I didn't really want anything else linked to my name floating around on the internet so I deleted them all. Including the one called blogger???

FYI if you have a blog DO NOT DELETE this album!

It is the reason why all my hard blogging efforts have been obliterated :( I have never been so sad I tried to re add some of the images but if I edit the post it edits the date and I really couldn't be bothered. I was considering scrapping the whole idea, but realized that this blog is really just for me and I know what was there so thats alright. I hope anyone that comes across this doesn't mind either but I just didn't want anyone else to make the same mistake and be sad like me.

Boo Summer School...

So it's that time of year again I am back in summer school the usual snooze fest. Good news this is my final course horray I thought I would never see the day. I am currently dragging my way through the 2nd last day of my Concept in Math Development course. It really hasn't been that bad although I could think of loads of other things I would rather be doing. I am also looking for my 4th year placement which I am really hoping I will be able to get into a Children's Aid Association, it's gonna be tough but I have spoken to everyone I know to pull strings so hopefully I can make it happen. 


So little update. I am moving back to Oakville.... (long pause) I am not too sure how I feel about this just yet. I am extremely happy that I will be able to get to and from work in less than 10 mins amazing. I will be able to see my Nan lots and I will be living with my brother. I think I maybe be excited but will still miss the city I may be bored but at least it will be the winter months so I won't be missing out on too much. I just figure I will have to make the most of my last summer in the city, until things change again. I will probably come back once I get my life sorted out. 


Next update finally changed jobs at work. I thought I was destined to drive myself insane working at Washington forever but I finally left Horray!!!! My new job is great! I work 11-7 somewhat normal hours I have some time to myself in the evening to have friends now that school is finally over I am learning how to use my unstructured time as my cousin would say. 


I am still working 7days a week, I took a part time job two days a week at the Ontario Collalition for Better Child Care. Amazing opportunity and I am learning lots but I also feel like it is way over my head. policy and procedures, politics and advocacy sometimes it's pretty intense. To be honest I am happy to be in summer school this week because I'm sure shit is hitting the fan over there after the city released it's consultation report which put child care in the zone to save money in the cities budget. I'll be back next week to fill you in. 


Last night I got a great bargain on a bed I bought a queen size box spring off of craigslist for $40.00!!! What a deal! bad part having to carry it two blocks home (Thanks Elle) :) Note Elle and I have been selling our lives on Craigslist and are getting rich doing it what I great idea.


Also very excited that Tory, Marc and Cassie will be here on Tuesday!!! For an entire month I am so excited to see her we will have to plan some good stuff. I am also going camping with some girlfriends the last week of July which should be a blast! Bought some cute t-shirts and gonna get my pasty bum a tan. It's always a great time to see my friends from college I wish we lived closer and life didn't always get in the way. 




Well that is all for now supposed to be a beautiful weekend I have half made plans to get to a beach, go out for a high school friends bachlorette and maybe do some vintage shopping and patio drinking with a good friend I haven't seen in ages. Oh I also wanna get out and take some pictures a friend and I are looking for a cheap 101 course so if you see anything let me know. Oh and go bike riding bixi time!!!

I survived another year!

Hooray! I finally completed another semester... and start my summer school on Monday.... I am very excited for my placement. I was supposed to complete it this semester but did not get my police check back in time. It was a little bit of a blessing in disguise. I was not as stressed this semester with the usual 4 courses and a 2 day a week placement, and work rather I will only have 1 course placement Monday and Wednesday and work Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun! Phew hopefully I can keep that straight... Anyways I start on Monday am and I have been placed at  Centennial Infant and Child Center, check it out! It looks like an amazing program and I have only heard good things from everyone I know that has been there. It is an early intervention early years program that works as a reverse integration child care center. So excited I know I will love it!

I also got a transfer position at work the same one I was supposed to get moths ago which I figured would be bitter sweet. I am definitely looking forward to it at this point. Time for a change and a fresh start. I am also looking forward to more normal hours. Instead of the dreaded 3-11 I will be like a normal person I think I have forgot what it is like to eat dinner with my own friends and family or go for a drink or to a movie after work.

Hope I can keep you all updated but I'm sure once Monday rolls around I'll drop off the map again...

One more piece of good news.... Tory comes home for a month in July!!!!! Can't wait...

New years!

When I woke up this morning and it was cold and dark all I wanted to was stay warm and cozy under my toasty duvet. I fought it! Woke up threw on the coffee marker, jumped in the shower and treked it to the subway station. Okay fine I was late, but expected. Better late than never!

On my way there, I remembered how my friend had invited me to Blue Mt for her boyfriends birthday this weekend. The last time I went was for new years and it was so nice. We stayed at her aunt's beautiful home right at the bottom of the mountiain. NewYears eve was quiet and nice, we had planned on going snowboarding the next day, but it rained so instead we went here instead!

How beautiful! I really want to go back this weekend and get the works! We only went in the baths last time, apparently you have to book months in advance to get a massage. Especially on a long weekend. I really hope I can swing it this weekend, put my request in, fingers crossed. Hopefully looking forward to a full day of snow boarding followed by a massage and soak in the hot baths, and a cup of tea... Ahhhhh!

So as every one knows I'm a student.... a broke one so not too long ago I decided to apply for an award. I thought well I have nothing to lose... I wrote an essay filled in a few forms and bingo bango! I won the lottary!!! The award paid for my entire years tuition, phew what a load off my shoulders so here it is my golden ticket....
